Pharaoh ant or another small indoor ant?
Pharaoh ants are very small — roughly a sixteenth of an inch — and pale yellow to light brown, often looking almost translucent, with a darker abdomen tip. That pale coloring separates them from the dark brown and black nuisance ants. They are essentially always indoors in this climate.

Pharaoh ants cannot survive New York winters outdoors, so they exist here only inside heated buildings — and that shapes everything about them. They are most often found in apartment buildings, hospitals, care facilities, and commercial kitchens, where continuous warmth lets them persist year-round.
